Dinner at 88 Restaurant In September of 2006 the Strawberry Tarts enjoyed a delectable dinner at 88 Restaurant in Buckhannon. There was a surprise birthday celebration for our Queen, whereby she was "serenaded" by a handsome young man who wooed her with song and flowers! What a delightful evening everyone had! In the picture above, you can see a very young and upcoming "pink hatter"!! |

STRAWBERRY TARTS CHAPTER OF THE RED HAT SOCIETY LOCATED IN BUCKHANNON, WVThe Beginning: The Strawberry Tarts Chapter of the Red Hat Society was chartered in October 2003 by Barbara Hinkle and was the first Red Hat Society registered in Buckhannon.
Officers of the chapter include:
Queen: Barbara Hinkle;
Exalted Mother of the Queen and Chair of Vices: Catherine Phillips;
Histarians: Jackie McDaniels and Brenda Johns;
Anti-Parliamentarian: Chris Mundy;
Barristress: Terry Beer;
Mistress of Anxiety: Vonnie Hager.
In August, 2004 members held a royal coronation for the Queen. The ceremony was conducted by Archbishops Terry Beer and Jackie McDaniels. Train Bearer was Chris Mundy, and Brenda Cutright served as tray bearer. The Royal Escort and Crowner was Vice Mum Catherine Phillips. The Queen was adorned with her royal cape, red boa and crown.
Since its inception, the group has enjoyed such activities as camping out, taking a Carribbean cruise, bowling, taking a boat ride, playing bingo, dining out, having picnics, shopping, meeting for ice cream, Christmas parties, and various other activities.

Welcome to the place where there is fun after fifty (and before) for women of all walks of life. We believe silliness is the comedy relief of life and, since we are all in it together, we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together.
Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next.

We are the women in the red & pink hats. We are the mothers, grandmothers, and daughters of society. Little girls grow up, but they're never too old to play dress-up and have tea parties.
The standard answer to the question, "What do you do?" is... Nothing.
Our main responsibility is to have fun! We see this group as an opportunity for those who have shouldered various responsibilities at home and in the community their whole lives to say goodbye to burdensome responsibilities and obligations for a little while. This is the place to have fun and enjoy yourself. .
On November 8, 2007 the Tarts had a surprise 80th birthday party for Lady Catherine. We had dinner at Graceland Inn in Elkins and a delicious red hat cake was served. Pictured is Lady Catherine with her cake! Members presented Lady Catherine with cards and gifts.
