The Tri-State Amateur Radio Association (TARA) exists for the following purposes:

  • To enhance the pleasure that amateur radio license holders get from their ham radio hobby;
  • To aid people who are interested in becoming hams in their efforts to obtain FCC licenses;
  • To serve the public, especially during emergencies, by providing efficient and reliable local, regional and worldwide communications;
  • To provide a forum for discussion of issues pertaining to amateur radio; and
  • To culivate goodwill among the general public toward ham radio by publicizing the good works of radio amateurs.

    The Tri-State Amateur Radio Association is based in Huntington, WV, and serves the WV, OH, KY area.
    Our home is the Museum of Radio and Technology, 1640 Florence Avenue, Huntington, WV, 25701.

    TARA meets on the Third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the Museum. Please come join us, visitors are always welcome!

    TARA owns and operates the W8VA Repeater 146.76- (PL 131.8)
    ARES net every Monday at 8:30pm, all are welcome. Please check in and join in on the net!
