2012 Staff

Marcus Daniels
Director/Choreographer/Show Design
Marcus Daniels has over 20 years of experience in the field of performing arts, including 6 years of Drum and Bugle Corps and 4 years of Winter Guard. He was a member of Speakeasy Winter Guard in Aurora Colorado; Sundowners Winter Guard in Madison Wisconsin; and a member of PresenTense Dance Company of Madison Wisconsin and Madison Scouts.
Marcus has also choreographed and instructed some of West Virginia's top Color Guards including James Monroe High School Color Guard, Huntington High School Color Guard, and Cabell Midland High School Color Guard. Marcus has also been a guest Choreographer/Instructor at Yvonne DeKay School of Dance in Ironton, Ohio, since 2005.
Marcus began his teaching career in Denver, Colorado at Ponderosa High School (Color Guard Designer), Arapahoe High School (Winter Guard Designer), Eaglecrest High School (Visual Consultant), Rangeview High School, Northglenn High School (Visual Consultant/Weapons Tech), and Broomfield High School (Color Guard Designer). He was also Color Guard Designer for Nova Winter Guard of Denver Colorado in 1999. Locally, Marcus has also served as the Minford High School Color Guard Instructor, Guyan Valley High School Color Guard Instructor, Marshall University Auxiliary Coordinator 1997-2004; and Hurricane High School Color Guard Designer in 2004. He is also an experienced color guard adjudicator judging various festivals throughout the tri-state area. Marcus is looking forward to another exciting season with Vertigo Winter Guard. Maurica Richardson
Director/Choreographer
Maurica Richardson is a recent graduate of Marshall University and is currently the Choreographer/Instructor for the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard, Huntington, WV. She has a combined history of 14 years of color guard and winter guard experience. After marching scholastic guard at the junior and senior high level, Maurica marched five years with the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard, Huntington, WV. She was captain of the Marching Thunder Color Guard for three years, two of those years she also served as their choreographer. Maurica has also marched with Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Columbus, Ohio, and with Expressions Winter Guard, Winchester, Kentucky. She auditioned for and was accepted into a world winter guard for the 2007 season but was unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts.
Maurica was previously the weapons technician and choreographer for Reflections Winter Guard in Charleston, WV. She has been the color guard instructor at Huntington High School, Huntington WV, South Charleston High School, South Charleston WV, Paul Blazer High School in Ashland, Kentucky, the weapons technician for Hurricane High School in Hurricane, WV, and flag choreographer & tech for Z Winter Guard, Ashland Kentucky. She is also an experienced color guard adjudicator judging various festivals throughout the tri-state area. Amber Galloway
Technician
Amber Galloway is a recent graduate of Marshall University. Amber has a combined history of 8 years of color guard experience. After high school where she was co-captain for a year and captain for two years, Amber marched four years with the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard where she was co-captain for one year.
Amber previously taught at McNicholas High School, Cincinnati OH, and was the assistant color guard instructor and the dance team instructor at Huntington High School, Huntington, WV. Amber has also served as a color guard technician for the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard.
Amber is excited to be working with Vertigo this season.

Jeremy Richardson is currently the choral music director at Huntington Middle School, Huntington, WV. Jeremy graduated from Marshall University with a BA in music education. He majored in trumpet and minored in guitar and is proficient in an assortment of instruments. In addition to writing and producing his own music, Jeremy has performed with many ensembles and has assisted with various marching bands in the area including the Marshall University Marching Thunder, where he was the trumpet section leader for several years. He was the 2004 student assistant to the Marshall University Director of Bands and was also a band manager. Jeremy was previously the assistant band director of the Huntington High School Marching Highlander Band where he wrote, arranged, and produced the marching band show for several seasons. He is known for his creativity in the area of general effect, both visual and music. Jeremy is very pleased to be a part of Vertigo Winter Guard for another season. Jan Richardson is a founding member of Vertigo Indoor Pageantry Arts Association and serves on the board of trustees for Vertigo Winter Guard. She has held administrative assistant positions in both the public and private sector and has been a volunteer and booster officer for scholastic marching band and color guard programs for over twenty years. She has served on the board of directors for independent winter guards in the Charleston, West Virginia area such as Mt. Magic Winter Guard and Reflections Winter Guard. Jan has been a volunteer for South Charleston High School Color Guard, Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Columbus, Ohio, and is currently a volunteer with the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard, Huntington, West Virginia. She also serves as Webmaster for an assortment of color guard, winter guard, and other non-profit organizations, and is the Webmaster for Vertigo Winter Guard.
