2012 Cast

Spencer Winters - Captain

Spencer is from Ripley WV. She is a Senior Counseling Major and a Vertigo captain for the 2012 season. This is Spencer's second year with Vertigo Winter Guard. Spencer has six years of color guard and winter guard experience and has been the captain for the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard for two years. She has three years captain experience between high school and college. She began guard because she thought it looked like fun. After graduation, Spencer would like to attend grad school somewhere south. For fun Spencer likes to go shopping or hang out with friends. Her favorite music is country. Her favorite vacation is the beach or Disney World, and her favorite color is pink!

Chris Collins - Captain

Chris is from Clintonville WV and is a Pre-K/ Elementary Ed. Major. He has been spinning for four years and is also a Vertigo captain for the 2012 season. This is Chris' second year with Vertigo Winter Guard and he is a previous member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard. He always loved watching dance and guard and finally his friends urged him to join color guard his senior year of high school. For fun he likes to relax with friends, go for walks, and do arts and crafts. After he graduates Chris plans to move and get his masters degree. He likes Jason Mraz and most any other music except for hard screamo stuff. His favorite place is Dollywood and favorite color is blue. Chris would love to swim with some dolphins one day. Chris is also a member of AMUSED (A Marshall University Student Ensemble of Dance).

Katie Roberts

Katie Roberts has been spinning for 5 years. This is Katie's second year with Vertigo Winter Guard. She was captain her senior year of high school and was a member of the Marshall University Marching Thunder Color Guard. Katie decided to start spinning because her cousin was in guard and kept telling her how much fun it was, so she decided to give it a try.

Allyson Jasper

Allyson is from Teays Valley WV, and is a Junior Elementary Ed/ Pre K Major. Allyson has six years of color guard experience including two years captain experience in high school. After graduation Allyson plans to teach. For fun Allyson likes to dance with her friends and help her mom with her third grade classes. Her favorite music is Techno, and her favorite color is black. Allyson’s favorite place is Rome, Italy. Allyson loves to dance all of the time, she enjoys putting smiles on her friends faces. She says she is really dependable and will always be there no matter the situation. Allyson is a current member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard. Allyson is also a member of AMUSED (A Marshall University Student Ensemble of Dance).

Jacob Smith

Jacob is from Lavalette, WV and is a Junior Music Education Major. Jacob has four years of color guard experience which include two years captain experience in high school. Jacob was also a flag tech for a year at Gallia Academy High School, Gallipolis, OH. When Jacob was asked why he began guard he said “It was a lot more fun than marching instruments, and I love to perform for people.” After graduating Jacob plans to attend grad school to study studio and record production. He would love to work directly with an artist to know exactly how they want their sound to come out. For fun Jacob likes to play piano and create routines and choreography. Jacobs favorite color is blue, and he enjoys all types of music. His favorite place is Fort Myers, FL. He works at MU Rec Center. He says he has the worst performance anxiety even though he loves to be in the spotlight. Jacob is a current member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard and a member of Sigma Tau Gamma.

Jordan Erby

Jordan is from Charleston, WV and is a Sophomore Business Major, and Dance Minor. Jordan has three years color guard experience including one year captains experience in high school. After graduation Jordan plans on owning his own dance studio. For fun Jordan likes to dance, sing, party, and have a good time. His favorite music is R&B and his favorite color is green. Jordan’s favorite place is the beach. He says he's nice and crazy and a great person to be around. Jordan is also a current member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard.

Cassidy Beaver

Cassidy is from Charleston WV, and is a Freshman Public Relations Major. Cassidy has seven years of color guard and winter guard experience, including two years captain experience. Cassidy marched with Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps, Toledo OH, and Reflections Winter Guard, Charleston WV. Cassidy began guard because after her first DCI & WGI experience she just fell in love. For fun, Cassidy enjoys hanging with friends, listening to music, shopping, dancing, and traveling. Her favorite place is New York City and her favorite color is blue. Cassidy loves the beach, shoes, and anything zebra print. Cassidy is a current member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard and is extremely excited about being a Vertigo member!

Emily Lippman

Emily is from Williamstown, WV and is a Freshman Elementary Education Major. Emily has four years color guard and winter guard experience which include two years captain experience in high school. Emily marched three years with Prana Winter Guard, JW Mitchell High School, Trinity, FL. Emily is a current member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard. Emily said she began guard because she didn't want to play an instrument in the marching band and guard looked like fun. After graduating Emily would like to teach elementary school as well as teach color guard at a high school. Besides spinning, for fun Emily likes to hang out with friends, shop, and listen to music, which she enjoys all types of music. Her favorite color is green. Emily's favorite place is Florida. She lived in Florida for most of her life and has only lived in West Virginia for two years. She also has a younger brother.

Tawana Blackburn

Tawana is from Lincoln County, WV and is a Freshman Nursing Major. Tawana has four years of color guard experience which include two years captain experience in high school. Tawana is a member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard. Tawana began guard because it interested her and she wanted to be a member of the marching band. After graduation Tawana would like to move near the ocean and start a family. Besides spinning, for fun Tawana enjoys hanging out with friends. She enjoys all types of music. Her favorite vacation is Disney World, and her favorite color is yellow.

Kathleen Hendricks

Kathleen is from Mason, WV and is a Junior Education Major. Kathleen has one year of color guard experience. She is a member of the MU Marching Thunder Color Guard. Kathleen began guard because she thought it would be fun and she wanted to meet people who have some of the same interests as her. After graduation, Kathleen would like to teach math at the high school level. For fun Kathleen likes to hang out with friends, read, and babysit. Her favorite music is Country. Her favorite place is Hawaii and her favorite color is pink!

Meghanne Diamond

Meghanne Diamond is from Catlettsburg, Kentucky. She is a senior at Boyd County High school. Meghanne has been in guard for four years. She was captain her junior and senior years. She started her freshman year spinning baton and then decided to do something different her sophomore year by spinning flag and she loved it. She began spinning because it was something new to try. Meghanne loves to read and dance. After graduating high school she would like to get a biotechnology degree. She likes country music and many other kinds of music. Her favorite place is anywhere hot. Meghanne's favorite color is green and she loves trying new things.
