Over the years while Maurica was performing with various independent winter guards, she had to travel out of state for rehearsals and competitions, because there were no independent winter guards in her home state of West Virginia, and no scholastic winter guards in her area. She dreamed of one day providing the winter guard opportunity to the youth of her area. Thanks to her dream, the youth of West Virginia now have an opportunity to participate in the activity.
