DANIEL BESEDICH, SR. (Holly Casto's father)
Daniel Besedich Sr. 79, of Oakhurst Community, Farmington went to be with the Lord Wednesday (June 25, 2008) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.He was born July 29, 1928, at Monongah, a son of Serbian immigrants, the late Joseph and Katie Yunkovich Besedich.
He is survived by three sons, Daniel Wayne Besedich and wife Anita, Michael Joe Besedich, and Matt William Besedich and his fiancé, Erica Rhodes of Kellytown, all of Farmington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Cale Thomas of Fairmont, Holly and Robert Casto of White Hall, and Tina and Scott Mohr of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren, Derek and Janet Besedich, Ryan and Anna Besedich, Joshua Cale, Aaron Cale, Travis Casto, Bobbi Jean Casto, Trent Casto, Sean Mohr, Cory Mohr, Bregan Besedich and Colby Besedich; three great-grandchildren, Devon, Conner and Mia Besedich, a step-granddaughter, Ashley Wilson; sisters and brothers-in-law Helen and Richard Lockwood of Pleasant Valley, Malava Blanton of Texas, Mildred Hughes of Pennsylvania, Virginia and Richard Davis of Midland, Texas; a brother-in-law, Max Bouillet of Farmington; sister-in-law, Dorothy and husband Clair Fisher of Maude Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dan was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Jean Scritchfield Besedich; an infant brother, Jovan Besedich; four sisters and their husbands, Olga and Keith Myers, Kay and Lon Stache, Mary and Nick Chickrell, Josephine and Ben Flannery; two additional brothers-in-law, Or “Tex” Blanton, Elmer Hughes; a sister-in-law, Betty Bouillet; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aaron and Emma Rush Scritchfield.
Dan was a longwall mechanic for Consolidated Coal Company’s Loveridge Mine, having retired with 52 years in the mining industry. He began his career with Consolidated Coal Company’s No. 9 Mine at the age of 14, then later worked at Bethlehem Steel Company’s Carolina Mine, proceeding to their Idamay Mine, then moving to Consol’s Four States Mine and Grant Town Mine, before spending his last 30 years at Loveridge.He was a member of the UMWA Local 9909, where he served on the safety committee, as chairman of the mine committee, and also elected as the doorman of the Union Hall.Prior to his mining employment, he worked as a roughnecker in the oil fields of Texas and New Mexico.Dan was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Susan B. Anthony and USS Manning. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal.
Christened as a child in the Serbian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, Pa., Dan was later baptized into the Church of Christ at Farmington. He was proud of his Serbian heritage and along with his wife continued a time-honored family tradition of celebrating Serbian Christmas (Jan. 7), opening their home to family as passed on to them by Dan’s parents. As is Serbian custom, Dan was the proud patriarch of his family and extended family, a role he cherished. He was devoted to his wife, his children and his entire family.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 6-9 p.m. today, 1-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-1:30 p.m. Sunday where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Evangelist Randy Cook officiating. Mr. Besedich will be laid to rest beside his wife in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Farmington. Marion County Veterans Council will conduct full military graveside honors.

Carol Thomas (Margaret Kisner's Sister)
Carol S. Dillon Thomas, 62, of Fairmont, died Monday (June 16, 2008) at Heartland of Clarksburg. Carol was born Oct. 6, 1946 in Fairmont the daughter of the late Elmer Dillon and Virginia Ross Blumline.
Carol was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, a nurse’s aid and a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.
Carol is survived by three sons: Charles Thomas Jr. and Jermaine Thomas and his fiancé Debbie Adkins, all of Hyattsville, Md. and Michael Thomas of Jessup, Md.; one brother, Mark Blumline of Fairmont; and one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Randy Kisner of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Charles Thomas II, Malik, Kiara and Logan Thomas; two sisters-in-law; Betty Goldson and Carrie Yancey both of Carolina; mother-in-law, Othalean Thomas of Carolina; an uncle, Willie Borden of Barrackville; two aunts, Joyce Ross of Monongah and Nancy Fleming of Ohio; and a dear friend, Sam Tawiah of Maryland.
In addition to her parents Carol is preceded in death by a brother, Dallas Dillon.

WAYNE ADAMS (Jackie Jenkins' grandfather)
ADAMS, Wayne D., 83, of Wileyville, W.Va., passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 25, 2008.
He was born February 23, 1925 in Wileyville, the youngest of nine.
Wayne was a faithful member for many years of the Wileyville Church of Christ. He held the offices of Treasurer, Deacon and lastly of Elder. He was a charter member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Wileyville and has been an honorary member for the last twenty years. He is very proud of the fact that his footsteps are being followed by his granddaughter, Serena as she is now a member of the VFD. Wayne played baseball as a young man and was a pitcher for many leagues: Ravenna Elks (Ohio), VFW (Ohio), Hastings for the Hope Gas Company, Pepsi in Moundsville, Windsor Heights in Wheeling, Reader and the Army all for the time of 1944-1956. He had the opportunity to try out for the Cincinnati Reds but chose not to. He was a 1944 graduate of Magnolia High School. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP at Fort Knox, Kentucky from June 1945 through 1947, where he met and married his beautiful wife. Wayne worked at White Rubber in Ravenna, Ohio and retired from Consolidated Natural Gas (Hope), Pine Grove, West Virginia, after 37 years service.
He was predeacesed by his parents, John and Bessie Adams of Wileyville; his loving, faithful wife of 58 years, Lee Adams on August 4, 2004, whom he met while in the Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky; four brothers, Shearl, Harry, Norman and Jearl; four sisters, Vera, Cora, Nora and Gay; and a granddaughter, Laura Ann Dakar in 1969.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Carla) Adams of Reedsville and J.B. (Joanne) Adams of Crofton, Maryland; and two daughters, Connie (Jack) Dakar of Reader and Judy (Jerry) Cecil of Wileyville, with whom Wayne resided. He is also survived by an ex-daughter-in-law, Jeri Adams; 11 grandchildren, Jackie (Andy) Jenkins of Texas, Stephanie (Travis) Knotts of New Mexico, Jeremy (Robin) Dakan of Morgantown, John Adams of Cameron, Bill Adams of Fairmont, Serena (Jeremy) Huggins of Wileyville, Barbara (Roland) Day of New Martinsville, Laura and Natalie Adams of Crofton, Maryland and Louryn and Mary Harper of Reedsville; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kody Jenkins of Texas, Kayla and Gunner Knotts of New Mexico, Mercedez Goff of Hundred, Jason Day of New Martinsville, Bryan Day (Leslie White) of Warwood, Katlyn Huggins of Wileyville, Dakota and Hunter Dakan and Tyler and Ashley Murphy of Morgantown; and one great-great grandson, Cody Steele of Warwood. Wayne also is survived by Bobby Gene Adams of Pine Grove, a nephew, that was raised as a brother to him; and a niece, Shelby Cain of Wileyville. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Friends may call at Palmer Funeral Home in Pine Grove on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. and Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Charles Pugh officiating.
Burial will take place in the Kirkland Cemetery on Fairview Ridge, Wileyville, with Fireman’s Services provided by his fellow firefighters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Wileyville Church of Christ or Journey Hospice of Sistersville in his name.

Elizabeth A. "Libby" McDaniel (Joan McDaniel's mother-in-law)
Elizabeth A. “Libby” McDaniel, 70, of Grafton, went to be with our Lord and Savior with her family by her side on Sunday (May 18, 2008) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a lengthy illness. She was born in Philippi on May 11, 1938, a daughter of the late Albert L. Moats and Anna V. Moats.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Curtis D. “Tony” McDaniel, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1957. She is also survived by one daughter, Shelia A. Spino and husband John Spino of Grafton; one son, Curtis L. McDaniel and wife Joan McDaniel of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Gina and Andrea Spino, and Ashley McDaniel; one half brother, Gerald Zirkle and wife Naomi Zirkle of Elkins; two brothers-in-law, Leonard and Lydia McDaniel, of Lowellville, Ohio, and Richard and Crystal McDaniel, of Lutz, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Jane Robison, and Dottie and Bill McFarland, both of Grafton. She is also survived by one aunt and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Sonny L. Moats, who died in infancy.
Mrs. McDaniel retired from quality control with the Philips Lighting Co. in Fairmont with 37 years of service.
She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Grafton. Previously, she was a member of the First Grace Brethren Church for 25 years, where she was Sunday school secretary, sang in the choir, and assisted with the Bible school program.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at the Beulah Baptist Church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard McDonald and Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Interment will be at Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton. Mrs. McDaniel will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Paul E. “Gene” Luzadder (Joann Hall's brother)
Paul E. “Gene” Luzadder, 74, of Prickett’s Creek Rd., Fairmont, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1934 in White Hall, West Virginia, a son of the late Harold and Margaret Phillips Luzadder. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Croce Luzadder.
Mr. Luzadder was a Christian by faith. He has formerly been employed by Pitrolo’s Market, Meadow Gold Milk Company, as a Deputy Sheriff in MarionCounty, a Teamster, and was the owner and operator of Boron Service Station and Union 76 in White Hall and Westover respectively. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing gardening and traveling. He formerly enjoyed bowling in numerous local leagues. Most especially, Mr. Luzadder loved to spend time with his family.

Ernest Floyd Hullderman (Member of White Hall)
Ernest Floyd Hullderman, 83, of Broussard, La., formerly of Fairmont, died on Monday (March 31, 2008) in Louisiana. He was born on Jan. 28, 1925, in Taylor County, a son of the late Charles W. and Blanche Limming Hullderman.
A native of Curry Ridge, Taylor County, Mr. Hullderman was a welder by trade and worked for Hinkle Brothers until his retirement, after 30 plus years with the company.
He attended Whitehall Church of Christ and he loved gardening, especially his fruit trees and his grapevines. He resided in Fairmont until just a few years ago when he and his wife relocated to Louisiana to live with his daughter.
Mr. Hullderman is survived by his loving wife of 62 years this June, Dorothy Jean Heldreth Hullderman of Broussard; his daughters, Nancy Lee Johnson and her husband Harry of Apple Valley, Calif., Shirley Jean Blakemore and her husband Bruce William of Broussard, La.; his granddaughters, Jeanne Ann Horner and her husband Andrew of Youngsville, La. and Dr. Amanda Lee Johnson of Hershey, Pa.; his grandson, Jason Bruce Blakemore and his wife Karen of Keller, Texas; great-granddaughters, Hannah Jean Horner of Youngsville, La. and Emily Marie Blakemore of Keller, Texas; great-grandson Andrew Bruce Horner of Youngsville, La.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Flavil Hullderman; and a sister, Elizabeth Jane Coogle.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday with Bruce Blakemore, son-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Julia Ross (Benita DePriest's Aunt)
Julia Ross, 85, of Fairmont, died Thursday (April 3, 2008) at Wishing Well Health Center. Julia was born June 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Genoucse.
Julia was retired from Westinghouse Electric and a Catholic by faith.
Julia is survived by one son and daughter in-law, Robert and Linda Ross of Gulfport, Miss.; Sarah Stritch of Gulfport, Miss; step-grandchildren, Colleen and Robert Stritch, Susan Cannon and her husband Anthony; and three great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers in-law, Beatrice and Ross Falbo of Indianapolis, Ind., Josephine Kopasz of Altaloma, Calif., Rose Gardi of Fairmont, Madeline and Sam Oliverio of Fairmont; four nephews, E.J.Kopasz, Richard Julian, James Gardi and his wife Patty and James Ross; four nieces, Sharon Minor and her husband Richard, Mary Catherine Hoylman and her husband Steve, Benita DePriest and her husband Don and Carol Slate Bock; sisters-in-law; Lily and Susan Julian; great-nephews, Aaron and Brian Minor, Christopher and Nathan Depriest; and great-nieces, Conda Takanabe and Nancy Michael.

Aldine Thomas (member of White Hall)
ALDINE THOMAS, 85, of Fairmont died Monday, March 31, 2008 at her residence. She was born January 1, 1923 in Plum Run Community, Marion County, West Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Glen Edward Toothman and Pearl Jackson Toothman. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Montgomery “Buster” Thomas who died in 1980.
She is survived by two step daughters: Shirley Yost and her husband Bob of Clearbrook, VA. Frances Skinner and her husband Robert of Fairmont, WV.
She is survived by 8 Step Grandchildren: Barbara Kittlewell, Genene Peko, Gregory Thomas, Kimberley Jones, Monty DeWitt, Shelly Thomas, Jeff Thomas, and Rob Yost.
She is survived by 10 Step Great Grandchildren and 4 Step Great – Great Grandchildren.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of the Whitehall Church Of Christ.
She was a graduate of Farmington High School and attended the West Virginia Business College.
She enjoyed traveling, quilting and making afghans for her family and friends.

Elizabeth W. DeMoss - (Life-long member of White Hall)
Elizabeth W. DeMoss, 91, of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday (March 16, 2008) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.Mrs. DeMoss was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Ray V. And Stella Booth Whisler.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry F. DeMoss in 2003.
Elizabeth was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she had worked at Hartley’s Department Store and G.C. Murphy’s in Fairmont. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School.
She lived most of her life in Fairmont and was a life-long member of the Whitehall Church of Christ.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, James C. DeMoss and his wife Susan L. of Blue Ridge, Va.; three grandchildren, Joshua A. DeMoss and his wife Andrea of Blacksburg, Va., Zachary S. DeMoss and his wife Elise of Roanoke, Va. and Alicia DeMoss Furrow and her husband David of Roanoke, Va.; and two nieces, Jolinda Linn and Pamela Cox and her husband Don. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles W. Whisler and Kenneth Whisler; and her sister, Mary Sparks.

Mary Cool (Melissa Arnett's grandmother)
Mary Eleanor Cool, 71, of Everson, passed away Tuesday (March 4, 2008) at her residence.She was born April 27, 1936, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late William Gay and Bertha Olive Bolyard Johnson.Mrs. Cool was a longtime nurse’s aide, a position she took great pride in, working in the Kingwood Hospital, St. Barbara’s Nursing Home and also Wishing Well. She was also a homemaker, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who guided and directed her family’s lives. She was known to be a strong, independent, “little” woman who was generous, hardworking and also a peacemaker. She gave much of herself to so many throughout the years, and she will be missed.Survivors include a son and his wife, Ross Michael and Donna J. Cool Sr., Keyser; a daughter, Sharron Lou Cool, Morgantown; five grandchildren, Melissa Renee Arnett and husband, Marshall, with whom she made her home, Reginna Leigh Wagoner and husband Jonathan, Morgantown, Susan Ann White, Morgantown, Ross Michael Cool Jr. and wife Tanicca, Mannington, Heather Nichole Cool, who resides with her mother, Candace Kellar in Monongah; 10 great-grandchildren, Johnny Arnett, Mary and Jacob Costello, Chandler and Madison Wagoner, Katelyn Keener, Annalyse White, Colby, Aidan and Gavin Cool; two sisters, Bertha Olive Hinerman and Catherine Fields, both of Monongah; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Ann White, Mannington.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ross Lincoln Cool, who died Aug. 9, 1991; four brothers; one sister; a grandson, David Leroy Wilfong Jr., who died Dec. 13, 1980; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Mahala White, who died April 4, 2003.Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Geraldine Beha (Linda Huber's Aunt)
Geraldine Beha, 96, of Fairmont, W.Va., passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at the home of her niece, Linda Huber of Fairmont.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1911, in Walker, a daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Curran Beha.
Geraldine worked hard on the family farm until her mother’s death in 1953. She then began working for various meat packing companies. She retired from Cloverdale Packing in Parkersburg in 1973.
She will always be fondly remembered for her love of animals and the outdoors. She never turned away a stray, always making room for one more.
Geraldine is survived by two nieces, Linda Huber of Fairmont and Patsy Roberts of Elkins; one great-niece, Carrie Grose-Phares of Elkins; a stepgreat-nephew, Donald and his wife, Jennifer, of Elkins; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews, Joel, Aidan, Bella, Phoenix, Kaylene, Nathan and Hannah, all of Elkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Nellie Kathryn Huber of Fairmont.
On Feb. 14, Geraldine made the decision to be immersed in baptism and now is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Whitehall Church of Christ.

Carl E. “Bud” Merrifield, 87, of Benton’s Ferry, Fairmont, died on Monday (Feb. 4, 2008) at his home. He was born on March 10, 1920, in Marion County, a son of the late William and Myrtle M. Decker Merrifield.
